Around the World Trip, 2026 Edition

Well, we finally made the decision, and we booked and are embarking on an ‘Around the World’ trip, which we had initially planned on for six months, but we ended up renting our house in Sydney out for an entire year, so we are considering extending the trip to a full year. It was a pretty hectic final two weeks trying to get all of our ‘stuff’ into boxes and into a storage unit to give the new tenants space in the house. I’ll say, I didn’t predict how much ‘stuff’ we had accumated over 14 years, and I didn’t anticipate that I would be so uncomfortable in putting years worth of ‘joy’ into boxes, to, well, maybe never to be seen again. We got it all done, all personal items in a storage unit somewhere in Sydney (we have notes and addresses). We haven’t gotten past planning the first month, so I’m not quite sure how we’ll feel, nor how we’ll approach the decision to extend or not.

First things first, we depart Sydney June 13, on our way to the USA for a wedding and the World Cup. We have a couple of stops over the first month, then we will spend about 2 months going south from Guatemala to Panama. Then, in early September, we will fly to Europe, and after a couple of short stops in London and Paris to see friends, the goal is to get to Vienna and keep going south until we hit Greece. There are some discussions to visit a few of the ‘Stans, but not really planned. Then, there is a conversation about spending a little bit of time in Taiwan, and then at least a month each in the Phillipines and Indonesia. All of that is *much less planned*. We’ll see how we feel as we get closer.

I’m going to try to split up the major stops into individual pages. Hopefully, photos won’t be far behind.

Wish us luck.
